Our Customer
Puopolo Smallgoods, a premium food manufacturer with a strong commitment to sustainability, sought to install a 400kW solar system to reduce operational energy costs and further their environmental goals. However, structural limitations at their facility required a significant change in the original plan.
An initial engineering assessment revealed that the building’s roof could not support the full 400kW system due to weight and wind load constraints. To ensure safety and compliance, Puopolo engaged an independent structural engineer who confirmed that only a 300kW system could be installed without reinforcing the structure.
Solution
While downsizing a solar system is uncommon, we remained focused on delivering the most effective outcome for Puopolo. Keith, our senior consultant at Choice Energy, worked closely with the Puopolo team to redesign the system within the structural limits while still maximising energy generation.
Despite skepticism due to previous industry experiences, Puopolo was reassured by Keith’s transparent communication, expertise, and commitment to finding the right solution.
Why Choice Energy?
Puopolo ultimately chose Choice Energy for their proven track record of delivering quality solar solutions and positive outcomes for businesses across Australia. The team's consultative and transparent approach stood out, ensuring Puopolo’s unique needs were understood and prioritised throughout the process.
Above all, it was the dedication of Keith and our wider Solar team that solidified Puopolo’s decision to move forward with the project.
Project Execution
The final system installed at Puopolo was a 300kW solar array, revised from the originally planned 400kW due to structural limitations. The installation was completed over a six week period, with minimal disruption to operations. Choice Energy provided a generation guarantee of 376MWh annually, and since activation, the system has performed above expectations, delivering strong and consistent energy output.
Results
Since commissioning, the 300kW system has consistently delivered strong results. Ongoing monitoring confirms the system is on track to meet, and potentially exceed, its generation guarantee, providing Puopolo with substantial energy savings and a meaningful step toward greater sustainability.
