Small businesses across Australia are feeling the pressure of rising energy costs. Finding the time to review bills and identify savings can be tricky.
That’s exactly why we launched our $5K Energy Boost campaign, to support SME businesses in a way that’s practical, meaningful, and delivers real impact.
A huge shout out to our winner Jesse Davidson from Centonove, a much-loved Italian restaurant based in Kew, Victoria, and a member of the Restaurant & Catering Association.
Here’s a great photo of Jesse and our SME Team Leader, Harry Dixon, presenting the cheque.
A Timely Opportunity
Jesse discovered the competition through the Restaurant & Catering Association newsletter. At the time, reviewing their energy bills was already on the radar. As restaurant manager, he had noticed energy costs steadily increasing over the past five years. With ongoing cost-of-living pressures affecting both businesses and customers, it felt like the right time to take action.
Submitting their bills to the competition was a simple step, but one that paid off!
Jesse was randomly selected as the winner of the $5,000 Energy Boost. After reviewing their energy setup, we identified over $2,000 in ongoing annual savings, on top of the $5K boost they’ve received.
The prize itself will go towards a new ice machine, an investment that directly supports their daily operations, although they admit they’d rather be putting it towards something a bit more glamorous.
The Bigger Picture
This was our first time running a $5K energy boost campaign and certainly won’t be the last. Across the six week campaign, we received several entries and uncovered a total of $35,822 in annual savings for the businesses we worked with.
Why This Matters
This campaign was never about giving away $5,000. It was about supporting small businesses in a real and meaningful way, helping them uncover hidden savings, reduce overheads, and make smarter decisions about their energy. Because sometimes a simple review can make a significant difference.
Could There Be Savings in Your Business?
Centonove’s story is a great reminder that opportunities to save are often already there, you simply need to know where to look.
