How we helped
Choice Energy carried out a full review of every site, contract, and tariff across their national footprint. We identified that many of their stores, although on SME contracts, were better suited to C&I due to load profile and opportunity for smarter procurement.
Working closely with their team, we prioritised long term value and operational certainty. While there was potential to shift more than 30 sites into C&I, we recommended transitioning only 14 due to lease concerns and longevity of those locations. This ensured their energy strategy aligned with real business needs.
Negotiating Better Contracts and Saving Costs
In February 2024, an exceptionally favourable time in the market, we secured new contracts that delivered $103,000 in annual savings, thanks to rates that were approximately 20% below the market average.
Negotiations with the incumbent retailer were extensive. A significant win came from successfully challenging and removing break fees from the SME multisite contract. With legal backing and persistence, exit fees were fully waived.
Under SHIELD, we continue to monitor and fine-tune their energy performance. Recent Network Tariff Assessments delivered an additional $10,000 in savings, with several sites upgraded to smart meters and switched to more competitive time-of-use contracts than single rate.
Today, we have a great relationship with the team at Oz Design Furniture. They're fully reliant on their energy consultant, James Hardgrove, to manage their accounts. Any correspondence relating to electricity or gas from retailers, network providers, or third parties comes directly to Choice Energy for action.
