BB Truss & Timber is one of Victoria’s largest roof and floor truss manufacturers and has been a leader in the industry for more than 25 years.
Operating out of a custom-built 6,000 square metre production facility, the business has consistently been recognised as the Best National Truss Plant by the Frame and Truss Manufacturer’s Association.
With the business’ continual expansion of its manufacturing operation, came consistently rising power costs which peaked at over $80,000 per annum.
How we helped
The owners at BB Truss & Timber engaged with Choice Energy to see how it could reduce the business’ energy costs and carbon footprint.
Choice Energy identified that a turnkey commercial solar system would help to reduce the business’ energy expenditure substantially. After reviewing the roof space and energy usage, a 100kW system was recommended.
The installation of the solar system coincided with the fitting of LED lighting in the production plant, consistent with their environmentally-friendly vision and further reducing the business’ carbon footprint.
Rather than paying the energy retailer for metering and getting no value back, BB Truss & Timber had an independent meter installed at no extra cost and now have Choice Energy validating the accuracy of its monthly bills.
With access to live consumption interval data, Choice Energy now performs network cost reviews to ensure BHTH are always on the optimum tariff.
By investing in solar, the business has reduced its peak consumption by 40%
Choice Energy’s solar solution will save the business more than $20,000 per year for 25 years
100% of total bill charges are under management via our metering and monitoring services.
“I was introduced to Lachlan Magee from Choice Energy by Clive Martella from MB Prefab who recommended installing Solar Power as he had found that Choice Energy had delivered what they had promised and I have no hesitation in recommending Lachlan and Choice Energy as every commitment and projection they have made to me has come to fruition.”
